There has been a hidden war going on within the art community since someone drew the very first penis entering a vagina on a cave wall. What’s more popular, sfw hand prints and bisons, or raging hot sex… With Bisons.

Hello I’m IzzyBsides, a NSFW creator just trying to find his way home. Today I’d like to make a video and I’d like to make it about what’s easier. Smut, or full clothed people.

This is a transcript from my latest video, you can watch it below, or continue reading if your weirded out by my Vtuber trappings.

I see this argument crop up from time to time, and it’s genuinely a shit discussion, so I’m here to put it to bed once and for all. The convo is usually sparked by some SFW pleb saying “wow feeling pretty poor right now, should go and make some easy money doing NSFW, pity I’m the pope.”

If you find an easy way to make money, do it you pussy.

It then devolves into everybody on both sides of the argument decrying how hard their job actually is. News flash, drawing is hard. I’ve got a permanent lump on my little finger from where it rubs on the cintiq all day. I’ve literally been malformed by art. One day I’ll be the hunchback of porn-tradame.

Anyway, let’s do a point system to see which one’s harder.

Point 1 against NSFW, you don’t get to go to heaven. Any Heaven

Jesus hates your vore and so does gandhi. I’m sorry, that’s just a fact. Gandhi was the one that wrote the buddah bible right?

Next point for SFW, Your social media accounts aren’t set to Roguelike mode.

Ever had your social media accounts randomly disappear overnight? No? Congratulations, you might just draw something broad society finds inoffensive.

Vanilla is your favourite flavour of life choices.

You can rest easy knowing that terrible artwork you uploaded to deviantart when you were 10 will outlive your great grandchildren. They’ll look back at it and say “wow, I come from a long line of weebs.”

Another point for SFW, you don’t get harassed by mums that randomly find your content.

Did you know that NSFW creators ALSO need to deal with Karens. And let me tell you, they have strong opinions. Your facts are not going to change their opinion about whether or not you should be drawing Goku and Vegetta frotting. “Noooo, that cartoon is for kids”

“Yeah, but obviously my content isn’t, stop letting the internet babysit your kids. One of them already believes they’re an incel. They’re only seven!”

Point for NSFW, your commissioners are rad

NSFW commissioners are genuinely sweet, I’ve dealt with quite a few so far and the vast majority have been polite, friendly, and genuinely value what you do.

SFW, well, SFW don’t get commissions. They get exposure.

Point for SFW, you don’t need to pretend to be the busiest lazy person on the planet

Here’s a conversation I have with my parents regarding why I don’t call anymore.

“Hey sorry, I’ve been really bogged down with work lately. Gotten sore arms from all the art I’ve had to draw.”

“Oh wow really, can I see some?”

“Actually I’ve been doing nothing all weekend, just generally busy, just busy vibes. Busy stuff. You’ll never know what I do.”

Was anyone keeping track of the score? I never settled on whether it was supposed to be golf score or not. Shit. Well, I better wrap this whole thing up on a serious note.

Let’s go back to the original question. Which one’s harder. Physically the harder one is the one you don’t enjoy doing, because that’s what it really comes down to. If you’re doing NSFW just for the money, and not because you honestly enjoy the gig, then you’re going to have a terrible time. This goes for everything in life. I could get paid a lot more to do coding, but then again I don’t want to end every day commuting off a cliff.

I think overall “harder” is an objective term. Saying what you do is harder than what the other guy is doing just because of the subject matter is just bullshit. We have no idea how hard our peers are working to reach their personal goals. Really we need to spend less time comparing how big our martyr dicks are and spend more time boosting each other up.

I think when most people are trying to say “harder” they are saying “harder to be successful” but you’re never going to be successful doing something you hate. So stop pining for something you don’t want. But if you do want it, do it.
